Goodwood Festival of Speed is always full of serious performance cars, rare classics and dramatic hillclimb moments, but every now and then something turns up that makes you stop, smile and immediately reach for your phone.
This year, Porsche might have just delivered exactly that.
Later this week, Porsche will display three very special one-of-one 911 models at Goodwood, each inspired by a much-loved character from Disney and Pixar’s Toy Story universe. The cars have been created to celebrate Toy Story 5, with Woody, Buzz Lightyear and Jessie each getting their own bespoke Porsche 911 interpretation. Goodwood Festival of Speed takes place from 9 to 12 July 2026 at Goodwood House, and Porsche will be based near Molecomb Corner.
At first glance, it sounds like the sort of brand collaboration that could easily feel a bit forced. But look a little closer and this is actually a brilliant bit of car culture. Porsche has not just wrapped three cars in cartoon graphics and called it a day. These have been created by Porsche’s Sonderwunsch department, the brand’s special wishes division, which is all about bespoke personalisation and proper craftsmanship.
Buzz Lightyear becomes a Porsche 911 GT3 RS
The most obvious choice for Buzz Lightyear was always going to be something dramatic, focused and slightly outrageous, so Porsche has used the 911 GT3 RS as the base.
It wears Buzz’s familiar white, green and purple colour palette, with details inspired by his Space Ranger suit. The massive rear wing has been tied into the theme too, which feels perfect for a character famous for saying “to infinity and beyond”. It is exactly the sort of car that will pull a crowd at Goodwood, even among people who usually pretend not to care about anything too playful.
The GT3 RS already looks like something from another planet, so giving it a Buzz Lightyear makeover actually makes more sense than it probably should.
Jessie gets the 911 Targa 4 GTS treatment
Jessie’s car is based on the 911 Targa 4 GTS, and this might be the prettiest of the three.
Porsche has developed a special Jessie White Metallic paint, with red, yellow and blue detailing inspired by Jessie’s western outfit. The red Targa roof is a lovely touch, designed to echo Jessie’s hat, while the interior uses denim-style fabric to nod to her jeans.
It feels less like a novelty car and more like a proper design exercise. The colours could have gone very wrong, but from the details Porsche has shared, it sounds like this one manages to stay charming rather than childish.
Woody gets a denim-inspired 911 Carrera T
Woody’s Porsche is based on the 911 Carrera T, which feels like a good match. The Carrera T is one of the more driver-focused 911 models, but without the same extreme attitude as the GT3 RS.
The standout feature is the custom paintwork, designed to mimic worn denim. Porsche has even worked texture into the finish, which sounds wonderfully unnecessary in the best possible way. Inside, there is brown vintage leather, denim-style fabric and a cowhide-inspired floor mat design. There is also illuminated “Ride Like the Wind!” lettering on the door sills, which is probably enough to make any Toy Story fan grin.
Out of the three, Woody’s car might be the most subtle from a distance, but possibly the one with the most character up close.
Why this works so well
What I really like about this is that it shows a different side of Porsche.
Yes, Porsche is about engineering, performance and motorsport heritage. But cars are also emotional. They are about memories, design, personality and storytelling. Toy Story has been part of popular culture for decades, and Porsche has taken that nostalgia and turned it into something genuinely interesting.
It also makes Goodwood feel even more accessible. Not everyone at Festival of Speed is there to discuss Nürburgring lap times or chassis balance. Some people are there because they love design. Some are there with family. Some just want to see something they have never seen before. These cars tick all of those boxes.
The fact that all three cars will be sold as part of a wider charitable initiative also gives the project a more meaningful purpose. Porsche says the cars will support Big Brothers Big Sisters of America, the American Red Cross and Starlight Children’s Foundation.
Porsche has plenty more planned for Goodwood
The Toy Story cars are not the only Porsche highlights at Goodwood this year. Porsche Cars GB is also celebrating 75 years since the first Porsche arrived in the UK, with a special 911 GT3 Earls Court 51 Edition limited to just 51 examples. There will also be a recommissioned 1951 Porsche 356, plus several modern Porsche models taking on the famous Goodwood Hill.
But let’s be honest, Woody, Buzz and Jessie are likely to steal plenty of attention.
Goodwood is brilliant because it brings together the serious and the silly, the historic and the futuristic, the priceless and the playful. A Toy Story Porsche 911 might not be the most traditional thing to appear at the Festival of Speed, but that is exactly why it works.
Sometimes cars are allowed to be fun. And this might be one of the most fun things at Goodwood all weekend.
