Reflecting on 2024: A Year of Challenges, Growth, and Gratitude

Reflections of 2024

As the year draws to a close, I’ve been taking a moment to reflect on everything that 2024 has brought. It’s been a year of challenges, growth, and many proud moments—a year that has tested resilience and rewarded effort. I want to share some highlights while expressing gratitude to those who have supported me along the way.

This year, I was fortunate to be promoted to Group Marketing Manager at Rivervale, an opportunity that has allowed me to take on greater responsibilities, drive meaningful projects, work alongside an incredible team, and push myself further than ever before. It’s been both a privilege and a challenge, and I’ve embraced every step of the journey.

Making a Difference Through Partnerships

One of the most rewarding aspects of my role has been establishing partnerships that genuinely make a difference. Highlights include the Field Studies Council initiative, which focuses on rewilding, carbon offsetting, and educating young people about nature. This partnership has a real impact not only on biodiversity but also on the next generation, equipping them with a deeper appreciation for our environment.

Another standout has been our efforts in raising funds for Chestnut Tree House Children’s Hospice and supporting the Brighton Marathon, which uplifts countless local causes. These collaborations are a reminder that even small contributions can have a meaningful impact, and I’m proud of the role Rivervale has played in these efforts.

Navigating Tough Times with Determination

It’s been a tough year for many industries, including the motor trade where I’ve spent the majority of my working career. The automotive sector, like so many others, faced challenges. Yet, we rose to meet them, building tactical campaigns that not only drove revenue but also reinforced our resilience as a team. These successes are a testament to the creativity, collaboration, and determination of everyone involved.

I also made a commitment to professional development this year, completing several CPD courses to enhance my knowledge and skills. Staying ahead in the ever-changing marketing landscape is critical, and I’ve relished the opportunity to deepen my expertise and bring fresh ideas to the table. This aligns with my exploration of marketing trends for 2025, which promise to transform how we connect with audiences. Trends like hyper-personalisation, value-driven marketing, and the rise of phygital experiences inspire me to integrate innovation and authenticity into every strategy. Predictive insights, micro-community marketing, and sustainable practices will undoubtedly shape Rivervale’s future campaigns.

Personal Growth and Health

On a personal level, this year has been a turning point. I’ve prioritised my health, focusing on becoming fitter, healthier, and happier. It’s been a journey of consistency, self-reflection, and determination, and I’m proud of the progress I’ve made so far. The benefits extend beyond physical health—this journey has given me greater confidence, energy, and clarity, all of which have had a positive ripple effect on my personal and professional life.

This year, I’ve also taken moments to recharge and reflect—one standout was my retreat to Soho Farmhouse in the Cotswolds. From cycling through autumnal countryside and relaxing at the Cowshed Spa to indulging in farm-to-table dining and soaking in the serene atmosphere, it was a perfect way to step back, reset, and appreciate life’s little luxuries. This trip was made even more memorable by spending time with my incredible friends Chris, Jody, and Jason. Whether riding bikes, indulging in Persian-inspired dining at Little Berenjak, or winding down by the fire with a glass of wine, the entire experience was rejuvenating and inspiring.

October also saw me continuing to build strength and focus on fitness—early morning workouts at Brighton Beach House have become part of my weekly routine, giving me the energy and clarity to tackle busy days. Fitness is a cornerstone of my personal growth, and seeing tangible progress has been incredibly rewarding.

Another highlight was spending time volunteering with FareShare Sussex & Surrey, where we helped collect and distribute food donations for vulnerable communities. It was both humbling and inspiring, showcasing the impact of small acts of kindness and teamwork.

Building Connections in Brighton

One of the joys of 2024 has been connecting with so many amazing individuals within the Brighton business community. Events like the CBC Sussex 100 and Best of British have provided opportunities to meet and collaborate with some truly inspiring people. Networking at events such as the Charlton Athletic Community Trust Awards Ceremony at the House of Lords was another privilege this year, where I witnessed firsthand the incredible impact of partnerships Rivervale has helped to develop.

I’ve also taken time to explore some of the fantastic spots Brighton has to hangout, with places like Brighton Beach House, Trading Post Coffee, and 124 Guest House becoming personal favourites. Whether enjoying a peaceful coffee, a Halloween cocktail evening, or a lively drink with friends, these venues have added richness to my daily life and served as places of inspiration and connection.

Looking Ahead to 2025

As I look ahead to 2025, I’m filled with excitement for what’s to come—the challenges we’ll tackle, the milestones we’ll achieve, and the new opportunities to learn, grow, and make a difference. I’m ready to continue driving meaningful work at Rivervale, expanding partnerships, and contributing to both professional and personal development. With the trends shaping 2025 — I see boundless opportunities to innovate and create meaningful connections.

Thank you to everyone who has been part of this journey—my colleagues, peers, friends, family and the connections I’ve made most recently. Your encouragement and inspiration mean the world to me, and I can’t wait to see what we can accomplish together in 2025.

I wish you and your families a restful break over the festive period and look forward to what 2025 will bring.
