My Trip to Shrewsbury: Planting Trees & Reviewing the MAXUS eTerron 9
A Trip with Two Purposes: ESG & Electric Trucks
Recently, I took a trip to Shrewsbury to visit the Field Studies Council (FSC), an environmental charity dedicated to outdoor learning and biodiversity conservation. This wasn’t just a casual visit—I was there for two key reasons:
- To meet the FSC team, see their work firsthand, and get stuck in planting trees.
- To test drive and record my first-ever vehicle review for the all-new MAXUS eTerron 9 electric pickup truck.
Both of these tied into my work at Rivervale, where we’ve recently partnered with the FSC to support rewilding efforts, tree planting, and outdoor learning for young people.
But let’s get into the details of the trip—starting with getting my hands dirty for a good cause.
Planting Trees with the Field Studies Council
At Rivervale, we take Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) efforts seriously, and our partnership with the Field Studies Council is a perfect example. As part of this initiative, we’re helping plant 500 trees at Preston Montford to restore natural habitats and promote biodiversity.
Spending time with the FSC team gave me a real appreciation for the work they do—not just in rewilding but also in providing outdoor learning opportunities for young people. Many of the trees we planted will take 25+ years to mature, but once established, they’ll start making a real impact on carbon reduction.
There’s something rewarding about physically planting a tree, knowing that decades from now, it will be helping the planet. If you ever get the chance to visit an FSC site, I’d highly recommend it.
I also ended up agreeing to participate in their Reboot and Raise Challenge, where this March I will walk 55 miles to raise money to help provide outdoor learning opportunities for young people.
Reviewing the All-New MAXUS eTerron 9
While the tree planting was a great experience, the second part of my trip had me behind the wheel of the brand-new MAXUS eTerron 9, an all-electric pickup truck that’s shaking up the market.
The Field Studies Council’s natural surroundings provided the perfect backdrop for this review, emphasising the sustainability aspect of a zero-emissions pickup.

The eTerron 9 has a modern, rugged design that blends practicality with a premium look. It’s clearly aimed at businesses and individuals who need a capable workhorse but want to reduce their environmental impact.
