Completing My First Marathon

Taking on the Re-Boot & Raise Challenge

This month, I signed up for the Re-Boot & Raise Challenge with the Field Studies Council. The goal? Walk 55 miles throughout March and raise money to help young people access outdoor learning programs.

I wanted to make the challenge a little more exciting, so I roped in my friend Bee for a long walk through London. I pitched it as a leisurely stroll—though by the end, I think Bee might have disagreed!

The Route

We initially planned to walk from Woolwich to Richmond Park but decided to save some time and start from London Victoria. From there, we walked to Canary Wharf, then turned back towards Shoreditch, where a much-needed rooftop pool dip and coffee gave our feet a brief respite. After that, we powered on to Hyde Park, through Holland Park, and finally back to central London—where we rewarded ourselves with a well-earned pizza.

The Aftermath

On the train home, we could definitely feel the miles in our legs. Thankfully, I escaped with just the tiniest blister on my little toe—no doubt thanks to my On Cloud trainers and cushioned socks. Bee, however, wasn’t quite as lucky and was feeling pretty sore.

The Results

So far, I’ve raised over £400 and walked 100+ miles—and the month isn’t even over yet! It’s been an incredible challenge, and I’m so glad I took part.

If you’d like to support the cause, donations are still open. Every penny helps give young people the opportunity to learn and explore outdoors!
