Jeep opened UK orders for electric 4xe and plug-in hybrid versions of the new Compass in September 2026. The announced starting prices were £45,200 for the Full-Electric 4xe and £37,330 for the Plug-In Hybrid, adding two substantially different choices to the same SUV range.
The electric 4xe is the first fully electric four-wheel-drive Jeep offered in the UK. Jeep quotes up to 372 miles WLTP for it, compared with up to 50 miles of electric running for the plug-in hybrid. The wider Compass line-up also includes e-Hybrid and two-wheel-drive electric versions.
What it means for buyers
Do not assume that the 4xe badge always describes the same type of powertrain. For these new Compass versions, the Full-Electric 4xe has no petrol engine, while the Plug-In Hybrid requires regular charging to make the most of its battery. That distinction matters more than the small differences between equipment grades.
Home charging and regular journey length are the sensible starting points. The PHEV may suit a mix of local electric driving and longer petrol journeys; the electric version removes fuel stops but requires charging planning on extended trips. The quoted ranges are official comparison figures, and neither establishes how the car drives or performs off road in an independent test.
