Walking 55 Miles for a Cause: Why I’m Taking on This Challenge
Over the last few months, I’ve been on a journey to improve my health and wellbeing. It hasn’t been easy, but setting myself goals has helped me stay on track. Now, I’m taking on a new challenge—a 55-mile walk in March with my colleagues at Rivervale. But this time, it’s not just about personal progress. It’s about making a difference for young people who deserve access to outdoor learning experiences.
Why This Matters
The Field Studies Council provides vital outdoor education opportunities to children across the UK. These trips allow young people to explore nature, learn about the environment, and gain hands-on experience beyond the classroom. But many schools and families simply can’t afford these opportunities. Those who would benefit most are often the ones who miss out.
That’s where this fundraising challenge comes in. Every step we take will help fund these experiences for children who might never have the chance otherwise. Just £35 covers the cost of a day trip for one young person, and £225 can provide a free two-night residential stay.
The Challenge Ahead
Walking 55 miles will be no small feat. It will test my endurance, push my limits, and remind me why I started this journey in the first place. But knowing that every mile we walk brings more young people closer to experiencing nature first-hand makes it all worth it.
How You Can Help
If you’d like to support this cause, any donation—big or small—makes a real difference. Every pound raised will go directly towards funding outdoor learning experiences for disadvantaged children.
